Day 20 – Snowbird RV Trip Florida to Canada
Dover, PA to Oneonta, NY 264 miles
Today marked the longest leg of our trip North at 264 miles from Dover, PA. We followed I-81 into Binghamton, NY where we switched to I-88 which runs NE from Binghamton.
I-88 may well be one of the roughest Interstates (along with I-81 through Pennsylvania) we have traveled, covered with patches and bone jarring bumps. We were totally worn out from scanning the highway ahead of us to avoid the potholes that they haven’t had time to fill and turn into bumps. They were many and deep!
Our stop for tonight is in Oneonta at Susquehanna Trail Campground. It is a Passport America campground and we have stayed here several times. The owners, Joanne and Dean Tribe, are very personable and both are hard workers and have done much to refurbish this campground, including hosting musical events during the Summer. Joanne gave us the bad news at check-in that she had lost Dean while they were on vacation in Florida this past January. They were building their dream together and now she intimated that she would be selling the campground. It’s just too much work for one person. We wish her the best in whatever direction she takes. Good people.
We are staying only one night in Oneonta and will then be heading for our Summer Workamping destination in the Lake George, NY Region.
