2013 Fall Trip South – Day 1 Oneonta, NY

Snowbird RV Trail – Susquehanna Trail Campground, Oneonta, NY

Our first day on the road was uneventful. The sun was shining, the leaves just beginning to turn, the temp a crisp but enjoyable 68*.

This first leg is an easy 137 mile trip from the Lake George Region of Upstate NY to the equally beautiful Southern Tier Region of NY State. First we go South on I-87, The Adirondack Northway, onto I-90, the NY State Thruway, for approximately 10 miles, and then we hop on I-88 and head Southwest.

We stop at Susquehanna Trail Campground (I-88, Exit 13) whenever we come this way. It’s a small campground beside the Unadilla River run by nice people. Very easy 1 mile off and back on the Interstate.

Since we have stopped here before and wrote about it (http://www.snowbirdrvtrails.com/susquehanna.htm) I won’t go into detail here other than to say I have updated the page with new information and photos and you may want to take a minute to visit it if interested.

Just an overnight stop here and tomorrow we head for 2 nights in the Finger Lakes Wine Trail area near Hammondsport NY where we hope to share with you one of our very favorite spots for lunch in the Eastern USA and a whole lot more. We hope you’ll stay on board and join us.

  1. Hi, my husband and I want to take our first time RV trip next week from Orlando fl heading north towards Tennessee and return. We would have 5 to 7 days on the road and would like advice on places to sightsee and also RV campgrounds to stay at.
